Pomelo is supposed to be the ancestor of citrus fruits. As it has purportedly medicinal values not in its flesh, but also in its leaves, it is usually given away as gifts on special occasions.

Choose one which is heavier in weight compared to similar-sized ones. You will then have a juicier fruit. There are sweet and also sour pomelos depending on the species.

Use your fingers to feel for the flesh of the pomelo inside. It should be about 2 inches from the top of the pomelo, so try to avoid the flesh. Use a sharp and medium-sized knife and slice into the skin of the pomelo at a 45 degree angle, just above the flesh of the pomelo.
