Experience
Dennis Sim is a former writer for The Spruce. He loves good food and enjoys cooking for his family and friends. He was initiated into the art of cooking at age 15 with a lesson on how to cut up a whole chicken. He then learned the art of making rempah, the spicy paste that forms the base for many Southeast Asian dishes.
Dennis ran a Malaysian restaurant in Belsize Park, a fashionable part of London. He served guests such gastronomic delights as satay, curry chicken, and char kuay teow (Penang-style fried noodles). He currently lives in Kuala Lumpur with his wife and two children.
Dennis has cooked and photographed recipes for publication and contributed to a book on how to run a restaurant. Now he spends a lot of his time preparing no-fuss dishes, mostly from Southeast Asia, for his family.
Education
Dennis Sim learned to cook as a teenager and is a trained chef.
